We recognize that you may have numerous questions and concerns in these areas as you seek the best daycare in Calgary for your child. To assist you, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions to address some of the common inquiries we receive from parents like yourself.

What are your operating hours?

The Wonderment Centre is open Monday to Friday 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM. We are closed on weekends and holidays.

Where are you located?

We are located at 208 – 16th Avenue NE, Calgary, Alberta.

Do you provide transportation services for my child?

Yes, with our new 15 passenger van, we provide pickup and drop-off services to help accommodate working parents.

What is your pickup policy?

Our pickup policy is meant to ensure safety and protection of your child. It states that only the parent, guardian, or authorized persons listed on the child’s registration form will be permitted to pick up your child. The full details of this policy are provided in the Parent’s Handbook that you will receive after enrollment. You can also obtain these details from one of our team members. The way we prioritize your child’s safety and security make us one of the best daycare providers in Calgary.

Is it necessary for me to arrange for meals and snacks or is this provided by Wonderment?

Pre-school children receive a nutritious morning snack and an afternoon snack, while Kindergartens and Before & Afterschool Students must bring their own snacks and lunch.

What is the protocol if my child feels ill during the day?

The Wonderment illness policy is comprehensive and complies with the guidelines set by Alberta Child Services and Alberta Health Services. The full details of this protocol are outlined in the Parent’s Handbook provided after enrollment, or details can be obtained from one of our team members.

What is the procedure for handling emergencies or accidents?

The parents will be notified by telephone in case of an accident or incident involving their child. If parents are unreachable, emergency contacts provided on the child’s registration form will be notified by telephone.

Do the Wonderment staff have basic First Aid Training?

Yes, all employees of Wonderment Child Centre a trained in First Aid.

What do you mean by “fresh and unique” approach to education?

Our programs are based on leading edge early development methodologies, and incorporate observation, indoor play, outdoor play, inclusivity, and are child-led.

Are your Educators experienced and qualified?

Yes, our Educators meet the extremely high standards set by Wonderment and all have extensive experience in Childcare Services. They all possess Alberta Child Services Certifications and or a University Degree in Childcare Studies. Additionally, they have all undergone a Criminal Background Check and have taken First Aid Training.

What is the Educator-to-Child ratio at Wonderment Child Centre?

  • Preschool 3 – 5 Years
    1:10 (Educator to Child Ratio)
  • Kindergarten 6 Years
    1:15 (Educator to Child Ratio)
  • Before & After School 6 -12 Years
    1:15 (Educator to Child Ratio)

What kind of activities do you offer for children at your centre?

Must my child be potty trained?

Yes, children attending Wonderment Child Centre must be potty trained, however, we recognize that children learn and progress at different rates. We suggest that you speak with one of our team members if you have a specific potty training issue to discuss.

What is your approach to dealing with children who exhibit inappropriate behaviour?

We use an approach called “5 Steps to Positive Child Guidance”. One of our team members would be happy to expand on this approach.

How do you communicate with parents about their child's progress?

As one of the best daycares in Calgary, we believe in the importance of regular communication. Wonderment provides an annual family evaluation and also use a variety of other communication methods including:

Is Wonderment officially recognized as a facility eligible for me to apply for Childcare Subsidies?

Yes. Wonderment is licensed by Alberta Child Services, allowing parents to apply for the Alberta Childcare Subsidy and the Federal Affordability Grant. Learn more HERE

Do you have any outdoor play areas for children?

Yes, in fact we have a nature themed outdoor play area as well as an indoor gym, workshop, quiet place, and kitchen.

Do you allow parents to drop in and observe their child at any time?

At Wonderment Child Center we have an open-door policy. Out of respect for the children and their Educators, we request that you make an appointment should you wish to visit or observe your child during the day.
